David Yankey

Founder

David Yankey founded Botany Bay Investments in 2024. After having spent his entire professional career in commercial real estate, David launched Botany Bay to pursue an underappreciated segment of the real estate market - sub institutional industrial assets.

Prior to founding Botany Bay, David worked at InLight Real Estate Partners, an industrial real estate development firm based in Ponte Vedra, Florida. As an Originator for InLight, David was responsible for sourcing acquisitions and development opportunities in the Atlanta and Nashville markets. In his time with the firm, David was involved in over $200 million of capital deployment. Before InLight, David served as a Senior Director at Carter & Associates, a national mixed-use and multifamily development firm headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. During his tenure at Carter, David was responsible for sourcing ground up multifamily development opportunities across the Southeast and asset management of a 1.1 million square foot adaptive reuse asset.

David graduated from Stanford University with a B.S. in Science, Technology & Society. A member and Senior captain of the football team at Stanford, Yankey was a two-time All American in college before being selected in the 2014 NFL draft. He played four seasons in the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings and Carolina Panthers. He currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia with his wife, their son, and their Great Dane.
